John de Koning, Board member
John de Koning, PhD, is a member of our Board since January 2010. John is a partner at Life Sciences Partners (LSP). John was managing director of Semaia Pharmaceuticals that was acquired in 2003 by Hybrigenics. In addition, he was a member of the management team of the Cancer Genomics Center, a center of excellence of the Netherlands Genomics Initiative. John has a Masters degree in molecular biology from the University of Utrecht and a PhD in oncology from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. After his PhD, John received a fellowship from the Dutch Cancer Society to work at the UCSF Cancer Center in San Francisco.
Mark Krul, Board member
Mark Krul, PhD., is a member of our Board since January 2010. Mark is a member of the executive management team of Aglaia Biomedical ventures in Bilthoven, The Netherlands. Mark has a background in molecular biology and immunology and over 12 years experience in anticancer drug development. Before founding Aglaia in 2004 he was Program Director of the NDDO Research Foundation where he held several positions related to oncology drug development strategies. Mark was secretary of the Dutch Society of Gene Therapy and Research Manager of the European Cancer Center. He has headed the Department of Molecular Virology at the National Institute of Public Health and Environmental Protection. Mark received his Ph.D. from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands
Gabriele Dallmann, Board member
Gabriele Dallmann, Ph.D is a member of the Board since 2011. Gabriele is the founder and CEO of Pharmatching GmbH which is an innovative partner for life science companies, VCs and service providers for drug development planning, establishment of the regulatory strategy and market positioning, for partnering and outsourcing activities. Prior to founding Pharmatching, she was in charge of antibody-containing products at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute, Germany's federal agency for Vaccines and Biomedicines. Gabriele has been involved in the authorization process of biopharmaceuticals in committees at the European Medicines Agency for many years and was Director Biopharmaceuticals at the Advisory Board of NDA Regulatory Science Ltd. Gabriele received her Ph.D in Immunology from Berlin University and is visiting lecturer on biopharmaceuticals at Freiburg University. As study director, she also facilitates the postgraduate programme on regulatory affairs of biopharmaceuticals of EUCRAF.
Elaine Jones, Observer
Elaine V. Jones, Ph.D. is an observer on our Board since January 2010. Elaine is Executive Director of Pfizer Venture Investments (PVI), responsible for making and managing venture investments for Pfizer. Elaine has held positions as Director of Scientific Licensing for SmithKline Beecham and has managed investments at SR One, GlaxoSmithKline’s corporate venture fund. Before joining PVI, Elaine was a General Partner with the venture fund EuclidSR Partners. Elaine has a B.S. from Juniata College and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She conducted post-doctoral research at the National Institutes of Health, in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.
Gerard van Odijk , Chairman of the Board
Gerard van Odijk, M.D., is Chairman of our Board of Directors and has been a member of our board since April 2008. Over the previous 20 years, he held a variety of senior positions in Europe at Glaxo, GlaxoWellcome and GlaxoSmithKline and served in commercial and general management positions in France, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, including the position of Senior Vice President and Area Director of GlaxoSmithKline Northern Europe. In 2006, Gerard joined Teva as President and Chief Executive Officer of Teva Europe. Gerard received his M.D. from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands
Florent Gros, Board member
Florent Gros is a member of our Board since January 2010. Florent is Managing Director of the Novartis Venture Funds in Basel, Switzerland. For more than 15 years, he held various positions and projects in the intellectual property and venture areas at Nestlé, Aventis-Pasteur and Novartis, in various countries including Switzerland, France and USA. Florent has multiple experiences in managing IP, BD&L and M&A projects, particularly in the Biologics area. Florent has a Biotechnology Engineering Degree in France, and made his diploma thesis at Glaxo-Vaccine in Belgium. He holds a Master in Private Law, and is European and French patent attorney as well as Kauffman Fellow (class 12). Florent serves on the board of other European startup companies
Lionel Carnot, Board member
Lionel Carnot, MS, MBA, is a member of our Board since January 2010. Lionel is an Investment Partner at Bay City Capital and has been extensively involved in the firm's activities since he joined The Pritzker Organization in 2000. Prior to The Pritzker Organization, Lionel was a Principal at Oracle Partners, a healthcare hedge fund. He also held several positions in the pharmaceutical industry, including Product Manager for Prozac at Eli Lilly as well as several sales and marketing positions at Aventis. Lionel was also a strategy and management consultant to the biopharmaceutical industry while at Booz Allen & Hamilton and Accenture Strategic Services. Lionel holds an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD and an MS with honors in Molecular Biology from the University of Geneva.
Wolf Berthold, Board member
Wolf Berthold, Ph.D is a member of the Board since 2010. Wolf is the president of Berthold BioPharm Consulting GmbH. For more than 25 years, he has held senior positions at Boehringer Ingelheim, Roche, IDEC and BiogenIdec being responsible for various aspects of Manufacturing Operations, Process Development and Facilities & Engineering. Until recently, Wolf was Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President Technology Development at BiogenIdec International. Wolf received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of London, UK.
